The Team
A collective of researchers. Different disciplines. One investigation.
ALBA brings together independent researchers from different fields around a shared question. Public data, open methods, converging expertise. The investigation is open to anyone willing to contribute.
The Collective
Research is not a solo enterprise.
Julien Sivan
Research Director
Computer scientist and data analyst. Designed the ALBA Bayesian framework, the Φ scanning methodology, and the Monte Carlo self-audit protocols. Directs the investigation from geometric search to bathymetric validation to probability synthesis.

An Open Research Collective
ALBA is not an institution. It is a growing network of independent researchers, engineers, and specialists who bring their expertise to a shared investigation.
Each contributor joins on the strength of the evidence and the rigour of the methodology. Marine archaeologists, geologists, philologists, geneticists, dive professionals, data scientists — the investigation demands skills that no single researcher can master alone.
No hierarchy beyond competence. No doctrine beyond falsifiability. Converging skills applied to converging data.

How We Work
Research principles.
Bayesian honesty
Unfavourable results are integrated with the same rigour as favourable ones. We published a formal retraction of our own initial geometric claim when it did not survive Monte Carlo testing.
Falsifiability first
Every claim has explicit criteria for refutation. We state in advance what would prove us wrong. If the expedition returns negative results, we publish them.
Radical openness
All data, scripts, and intermediate results are published under CC-BY 4.0. No proprietary datasets, no paywalled methods. Anyone can reproduce every calculation.
Academic Foundations
Built on peer-reviewed research.
ALBA's investigation draws on published, peer-reviewed work across archaeoastronomy, geomythology, planetary science, archaeological geometry, population genetics, and ancient mechanisms. Every source is cited in the preprint.

The disciplines this collective needs next.
The theoretical framework is built. The next phase requires specialists willing to bring their expertise to the field and to the data.
Marine Archaeology
Underwater survey methodology, site documentation, UNESCO heritage protocols
Marine Geology
Bathymetric analysis, sediment coring, submarine geomorphology
Classical Philology
Ancient Greek, Platonic scholarship, Egyptology, philological validation
Population Genetics
Sama-Bajau lineages, Southeast Asian palaeodemography, ancient DNA
ROV & Sonar
Remote sensing operators, side-scan sonar, sub-bottom profiling
Photogrammetry
Underwater 3D reconstruction, survey-grade documentation
Archaeoastronomy
Precession calculations, stellar alignment verification, ancient calendars
Science Communication
Documentary production, science journalism, peer review facilitation
Whatever your field, if the evidence intrigues you and the methodology convinces you, there is a place for you in this investigation.

ALBA does not claim to be right. It claims to know exactly how it could be wrong.
The collective is looking for people who want to find out.
Comments, critiques, and proposals for collaboration are welcome.
